A new major release has followed each year with minor point releases between each. The first version, KeyShot 1.9, was released in February 2010. The development team was led by Henrik Wann Jensen as Luxion's Chief Scientist. KeyShot was also the first rendering solution to be integrated with the Autodesk Fusion 360 cloud platform, January 2014. It is the primary rendering software for PTC Creo, Siemens PLM Solid Edge, SpaceClaim, Alibre Design and IronCAD. KeyShot has partnerships with both software and hardware companies. KeyShot Network Rendering, which scales rendering cores, and KeyShotXR, which creates of interactive visuals, are additional add-on products. Ī stand-alone base version, KeyShot HD, and professional version, KeyShot Pro, are the two primary products. It is responsible for bringing rendering work in-house at companies like 3D Systems or Skullcandy, who now create interactive visuals of their products using Luxion software. Through the software, colors, finishes and materials are applied to the digital model to create a photographic appearance, but with unlimited variations and camera angles. KeyShot is used to create images for many different products in the fields of industrial design and engineering where 3D geometry is imported from 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or PTC Creo. KeyShot is developed by Luxion and is among the first CPU-based, real-time ray tracing applications utilizing global illumination to create rendered and animated visuals on Mac OS or PC computer platforms.
